At the very beginning of 2017, I received a kind message from Mathilde proposing that I write an article about the Bullet Journal. We met up, had a drink together, and voilà! The “I” used is therefore Mathilde’s and not my own.
Here is the first part
1/ What is a Bullet Journal?
In recent months, a hashtag (or #motdièse for the purists among us) has been making the rounds on the web and social networks: the BuJo.
The Bullet Journal, to give it its proper name, is THE organizational system that will change the lives of everyone who has been juggling notebooks, post-its, and apps for many years.
But you might be thinking it’s:
- too complicated,
- too long to set up,
- too difficult to manage?
In any case, that’s what I thought before taking the plunge. So, let me change your mind.
2/ Why is it called a Bullet Journal?
The Bullet Journal, as its name suggests, comes from the daily use of bullet points, those little symbols that allow you to make lists quickly.
3/ What are the benefits of using the Bullet Journal system?
The Bullet Journal is an organizational system that will allow you to combine:
- a daily or weekly planner;
- a calendar for the coming months;
- a to-do list that evolves day by day;
- and much more, depending on your needs.
You can use your Bullet Journal just as well to keep collections, meaning lists centered around a specific theme that is important to you (such as books to read, movies to watch, etc.), as you can to track certain habits or activities on a regular and effective basis.
Finally, and this is a very important point in an increasingly stressful daily life, it can be a way to recharge, to write down everything that crosses your mind, and to refocus on yourself.
In short, the BuJo is what you make of it. And that is exactly what characterizes this system: every Bullet Journal is unique and specific to each person. And yours will be just as unique!
So, are you convinced? Let’s start the Bullet Journal adventure together!!
