Do you ever feel like you aren't making any progress?
Like you aren't going to make it?
Like there is still so much left to do!
When I discovered the date with myself, I adopted it immediately.
This date had a magical effect on me.
A coach introduced me to it.
I was just starting the Louise Carmen adventure.
A time when everything needed to be done.
And the list was endless.
In practical terms, what is it?
- It is a moment in the week that you set aside to spend with yourself, in a place that inspires you where you feel good, like a park, a café, or at home.
- It is a real appointment that you make with yourself, just like when you have to go to the doctor or see a client. It cannot be cancelled.
- You write it in your agenda: Saturday the 17th from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM: date with myself.
What will this date bring you?
- It will allow you to take stock in a positive way of what you have accomplished.
- To decide what you would like to do.
- It brings you a great deal of self-confidence.
- It allows you to connect with everything you are doing that is positive, and that is super important!
Learning to see the positive
When you don’t see the positive side of things, you only focus on the negative. In other words, everything you haven't done (the list can be very long), you only see your failures. It is so discouraging!
These dates with myself allow you to highlight all the things you accomplish without even realizing it, and to see what is working.
The benefits
- The effect is immediate.
- You are more positive.
- More determined than ever to bring your dream to life.
- You see what needs to be continued or improved in your way of doing things.
It allows you to realize that you are heading in the right direction.
When should you have these dates?
You can have a date with yourself once a week or once a month.
If you are at the very beginning of a project, I recommend once a week to build self-confidence, keep your spirits up, and face doubts and fears.
You can use these dates with yourself whether you are heading a very large project or if your life is routine.
What do you need?
A beautiful, practical notebook that inspires you. The Louise Carmen organizer is perfect for this because it is slim and has many storage compartments to tuck in documents.
It develops a patina over the course of your dates with yourself.
How do you do it?
First step
- In your notebook, create a table with 2 columns.
- Column 1: make a list of everything that made you feel good during the week.
- Column 2: opposite that, list the needs you fulfilled.
Tip: if your life seems a bit routine, look at all the little nice and positive things you did, even the smallest ones.

If you have a larger-scale project that will require time, you will need to stay motivated over the long haul.
Each week, list all the little things you have done, and all your victories.
Mix all the different aspects of your life
- family
- social
- romantic
- professional
Don't forget to also note when other people have helped you—for example, if a friend invited you to dinner and took care to make a healthy meal because she knows you’ve decided to go on a diet. Don’t forget to thank her and show that you appreciated her thoughtfulness. It strengthens the bond.
Step 2: Note what you want to do next week
Another important trick to staying positive is to ask yourself "what do I want" rather than "what do I have to do."
For example, if I tell myself "I have to exercise," it doesn't really work to motivate me, whereas "I really want to exercise" is immediately much more emotionally engaging.
Why does seeing the positive work better than seeing the negative?
Having too much pressure or stress when you have projects is a factor in failure. We are less relaxed, less creative, our brain receives messages of failure, and that is what makes us see everything in a negative light.
If you regularly take this stock of what you are doing positively, it will allow you to lower the pressure, see the bright side of things, and not waste energy on the negative.
What makes it work is also that you will give yourself signs of recognition, without waiting for them to come from others. We all need recognition. You will gain freedom to think for yourself, without seeking to please others. You will follow your intuition.
It will also allow you, when someone asks you "how are things going right now?", to talk about the positive things you are experiencing, thereby conveying positivity, maintaining positive discussions, and attracting positive people.
So, what do you think of this date with yourself?
See you very soon, and don't forget to think about yourself 🙂
